What is the process to purchase/install?

  1. Member contacts MJM and reviews program details/offerings as needed.
  2. Member obtains installation quotes from third-party installers/electricians and selects someone to complete installation.
  3. Member contacts MJM when ready to purchase, completes the MJM Generac Purchase Acknowledgement, and provides full payment.
  4. Order is shipped to MJM within 2-4 weeks, and we will notify member and/or installer/electrician when generator is available for delivery. 3-6 weeks for special orders.
  5. Your installer will schedule a time to install and will need to contact MJM’s Dispatch Operations Center to request a temporary disconnect of your electric service to allow them to safely complete the installation. The temporary disconnect/reconnect process is usually done the same day.
    • You can reach MJM’s Dispatch Operations Center by calling our office at 217-707-6156 and following the prompts.

Who installs and maintains the generator and transfer switch?

  • Member selects an installer and maintenance provider of their choice.
  • MJM does not install or maintain the equipment.
  • All warranties are provided through Generac.

What size generator do I need?

  • Your installer/electrician will be able to assist in proper sizing for your specific home.
  • MJM will not recommend a specific size for your home but upon request, we will be happy to provide you with historical peak hourly energy usage for your home that you can share with your installer/electrician to aid in sizing. This information can also be found in your SmartHub app.
  • Do you want whole-home or partial backup? Sizing is heavily dependent on your large appliance and HVAC needs. The transfer switch includes Smart A/C module that can shed up to four HVAC units (in a priority order) in the event of generator overload by interrupting the 24 VAC thermostat control signal to your unit. This option can be discussed with your installer/electrician.
